Cheesy Hot Dog Roll-Ups

This is an easy, yummy dinner that doesn't take much time to make. It makes a lot, so if you want to make less, simply adjust the ingredients. We eat them uncut, but the picture shows what they look like inside. Hope you like them!


Cheesy Hot Dog Roll-Ups

Ingredients:

16 vegan hot dogs
Water
Pam spray
2 pkgs. Pillsbury Pizza Crusts
2 cups of finely shredded vegan cheese (We used Vegan Gourmet, cheddar style.)

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Boil several cups of water in a medium pot. Once the water boils, turn off the heat and put in the hot dogs for two minutes. Drain and set the hot dogs aside. Spray cookie sheets with Pam spray. Spread out each of the crusts as much as you can on each of the cookie sheets. Sprinkle the cheese over the crusts. Cut the crusts in half lengthwise, then cut each strip into four squares. You should have a total of sixteen squares. Lay a hot dog on a square and roll up the dough around it. Pinch it shut along the side. Bake one tray at a time for seventeen minutes. If you can bake both at the same time and have them cook evenly, then do that, but I need to bake them separately. Child-friendly! Feeds five hungry vegans.

  1. I would like that vegan alternatives in Spain were easier to find...because this sounds great! Both vegan hot dogs and vegan cheese are extremly difficult to find here (altough I suppose you can fill it with homemade seitan too)

It makes me feel useful :D About the vegan pelmenis...well, I don't know if the recipe existed, but I didn't find any and decided to create one :) It's a great recipe when you have a lot of people at home (and you have three, I suppose, hungry children!) because you can make a lot and fremeze them. I am still eating the last batch!

    You told me that your family is from Russia. Have you ever been there youself? I'm just curious :)

  2. Hi, Ksenia! Thanks for visiting my blog! I'm actually going to be making a variation of pelmeni for Christmas - that's my plan right now. It will be different from yours in that I'm using tofu and soy ground, but I was really looking for the dough recipe. I found several to choose from and make vegan. My grandmother gave me the whole recipe once, but I need to find it. :( Yes, I've been to Russia and Belorussia, and it was a wonderful time. I minored in the language in college but am regretfully rusty at it now. If I do make a post on Pelmeni, I'll probably put something in there about my family's background, as well. Congratulations on being vegan even when it's challenging. :)

  4. Hi, S.V., it's a little different and a little the same. I use crescent rolls for the piggies version and pizza crusts rolled around the dogs for this version.
